Eddie McPherson currently serves as high school Fine Arts Department Chair and theatre instructor at South Paulding High School outside Atlanta. He loves passing his passion of the creative life on to his students who are encouraged to imagine and write their own scenes and stage them for audiences.
Eddie has written numerous drama road tours, dinner shows, one-act and full-length theatre productions, children’s plays and countless sketch reviews. He earned his undergraduate degree in Broadcast Writing, a Master’s in English Literature and a Specialist in Leadership.
Eddie’s drama students have gone on to win first place in one-act play competitions, best actor awards, all-star cast awards and attend acting schools in Chicago, New York and California. Some of his students are avid writers themselves and have had the joy of seeing their own scripts published and performed by groups around the country. He credits his talented students for aiding him in developing his scripts for publication through staged readings and extensive workshop productions. “Once a student really gets the theater bug under his skin, he’s ready to become involved in all aspects of theatre: backstage, writing, performing or handing out programs.”
Eddie works with national publishers to develop quality scripts for the educational, community theatre and religious markets. Many of his plays have become best-sellers and award winners. Eddie lives in Atlanta, Georgia and writes all his plays in his favorite coffee house in the heart of the city. “I enjoy writing where there are lots of people sitting around on their laptops working on their own creations. There is lots of creative energy floating around a place like that.”
