Sure Shot Sue hopes to avenge her gangster brother by going after Lucky Louie. She teams up with Pistol Packin’ Patty, and they find Louie running the Boardwalk Book Shoppe, which is really a speakeasy that serves “illegal” sarsaparilla and root beer. New FBI director J. Edgar Loover wants his agent, Elliot Mess, to shut them down. But Mess’ girlfriend works there and he thinks the place is real. He doesn’t realize she’s really Sue, who along with Patty, got a job there to spy on Louie and take over his operation. When they overhear Louie and Four Fingers Freddy are planning to steal some hootch bound for Dirty Dan’s speakeasy, they see their golden opportunity. They beat Louie to the punch, and their takeover looks like it’s in the bag. But Elliot has stolen Sue’s heart, and when he shows up at the boardwalk, she drops her plan. Instead, she helps Mess and the FBI arrest Lucky Louie and Dirty Dan. Lots of hilarious lines and funny stage action. A delightful show for actors and audience alike.
