OZ!

Book by Tim Kelly Music and lyrics by Bill Francoeur

Age Level: Middle Grades to High School
Cast: Flexible cast of 21, plus chorus, extras (doubling possible)
Time: 90 minutes, 2 acts

It’s all here! The magic that has made the Wizard of Oz everyone’s favorite fantasy story. Now a modern, new version with delightfully inventive music! A rock beat is woven throughout -- a bit of novelty-funky, a touch of samba, bluegrass, blues and ballads -- lyrics as charming as the rhythms. Several songs for creative choreography. All of the same lovable characters: Dorothy and Toto, the rubber legged Scarecrow, the Cowardly Lion and the Tin Woodsman. Lots of action! They battle the Wicked Witch of the West, the Fighting Trees, the Enchanted Poppies and the Winged Monkeys. The Good Witch, Glinda, saves Dorothy and her friends, leads them to the place of the great and powerful Wizard. He grants all wishes and helps Dorothy and Toto return to Kansas.
