Cyrano Loves Roxanne

Age Level: Middle Grades to High School
Cast: 9F, 7M
Time: 90 minutes, 2 acts

A delightfully lively and funny show for young performers. It’s all here! Witty lines, hilarious characters and lots of action. Both your audience and your players will enjoy the sword play, the word play and the many silly situations. Cyrano’s heart is as big as his nose - huge! Cyrano goes to the "Comon Inn" in France to meet his lovely protégé Roxanne. By chance, he asks his young friend, Maurice, to meet him there. But everything goes hilariously awry. Three rogue sailors try to kidnap either Cyrano or Maurice while Roxanne’s protective aunts try to thwart Roxanne from meeting Cyrano or Maurice. But Roxanne eludes her aunts, and it’s love at first sight for her and Maurice. Unfortunately, Maurice (from the "west coast") speaks only in modern slang. Gallant Cyrano hides in the shadows and provides Maurice all the most exquisite words he needs to win her over. Cyrano loses Roxanne, but he wins Katy, Roxanne’s charming servant, who is the secret writer of Roxanne’s sweet eloquence. Everybody gets what they deserve – even the kidnapping rogues who Cyrano bests in every duel. Four-star entertainment! Many good roles.
