Five-Minute Two-Character Comedy Sketches

By: Tim Mogford

Age Level: Middle Grades to High School
Cast: 2 each skit, mixed, up to 14 players
Time: 5 minutes each

What can be more fun for young actors than satirizing themselves! Here are seven comedy sketches to help kids re-live and laugh about their middle grade dilemmas. Titles include: 1. Dump Me? – a boy afraid of being dumped by his girlfriend; 2. Brothers Are Great – a sister wants to "kill" her brother but changes her mind; 3. Cardboard for Lunch – two dorks agonize over cafeteria food; 4. Perfect Project Partner – a science project for two goes awry; 5. Thicker than Water – a big sister and little sister negotiate about a party sweater; 6. School Dance Homework – after being dumped, a girl schemes to fight back; 7. How to Talk to Girls – a brother practices with his sister. The dialogue of these sketches is full of subtle laughter.
