The Pied Piper
Age Level: Middle Grades to College Cast: 8F, 9M, and mixed townspeople Time: 45 minutes, 1 act
When the townspeople of Hamelin, Germany, cannot rid their village of a ravaging horde of rats, the Pied Piper comes to their rescue. He promises to dispose of the rats for a fee. The mayor initially agrees, but after the Pied Piper drowns all the rats, the mayor doesn’t pay the Piper. In retribution, the Pied Piper magically leads all of the town’s children into a nearby mountain never to be seen again. This delightful musical version is simply staged with a Troubadour and large cast. Songs include: "The Piper’s Tune," "A Promise Is a Promise," "More Rats," "Follow Me" and more. Youngsters of all ages may perform all the roles. Audience participation is part of the show. It can be performed by teens for an an audience of all ages. Easy staging.
