The Wrangler Roy Show

By: Stuart L. Sheeley

Age Level: Middle Grades to College
Cast: 4W, 5M (adjustable) plus extras
Time: 10 to 15 minutes

A triple-threat script. It works for taping, radio or speech contests — you decide. Though originally written to teach students TV techniques with video equipment, this comedy take-off on kiddie shows may be produced as a TV show, a radio drama or a contest script. The laugh lines work in any medium. Wrangler Roy is the formula kiddie show host in cowboy duds. He introduces his cliché guests: the science lady who gets bit by her own rattlesnake; Billy Bob Ray, a thick-necked football linebacker; Captain Quazar, the villain in a space series; Dr. Dunk-it, a towering basketball star; and Paula, the lovable pet shop owner. Wrangler Roy acts as a cheerleader for his guests and is the pitch man for the sponsor’s silly commercials.
